Born in North Carolina, this self-taught master first got into jewellery by working in his uncle\u2019s jewellery craft shop. Webb moved to New York, where his unique creativity was soon noticed. He opened his own jewellery shop in 1945.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u2018golden years\u2019 of his production are considered to\nbe the 1950s through the 1970s. All his pieces were made in New York and\nreflect the vibrant spirit of this city: these are modern jewels of original\ncharacter, dynamic pieces with vibrant colours. Celebrities such as Ava\nGardner, Lana Turner, Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis, and particularly, Elizabeth\nTaylor, a collector, were fans of David Webb\u2019s jewellery designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Pieces<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>His pieces are bold, strong, colourful and vibrant.\nThey hold an unmistakable dramatic quality \u2013 these are striking pieces of\njewellery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the J.Baptista collection there are several David Webb pieces, among which this magnificent gold and platinum <a href=\"https:\/\/josebaptista.com\/loja\/collection\/jewellery\/bracelets\/david-webb-bracelet-2\/?lang=en\">bracelet<\/a> with red corals and diamonds (c.1960).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>History David Webb (1925-1975) was an important North-American jeweller.
