Portland Vase is a Roman amphora of the first century AD in translucent blue cameo and white opaque glass. Iconography possibly related to the marriage of Peleus, hero of Greek mythology, with Thetis, sea nymph, from which the famous hero Achilles is born. Currently in the British Museum (inventory number: 1945,0927.1). In the century XIX models were made in silver and this is the largest specimen known.
